Expressing your feelings on the internet as well as a way to make money, blogging has an attraction to millions of people and is a great starting point for the average or newbie user of the internet. Though you can treat blogging as a business to make money, it can just be used to converse with friends and associates, share your interests on the internet, or maybe as an enjoyable, fun hobby. However, there are a few ways to get your blog started:

1) Choose a Niche

You have to know your niche before you can start your blog. Your niche is just basically your chosen specific topic that you have an expressed interest in sharing with your audience. It is also important that you narrow down the niche using keywords to get the most traffic. You want to find a niche that is not too saturated but also not too unknown. For example if you choose football as a niche, you may want to narrow it to football team and then to football team player. A “specific football player” as a keyword will be much more targeted than just “football”. So, the more targeted the keyword for a particular niche, the more targeted the traffic. Most important is that you must be passionate about your chosen niche because you will be constantly and consistently writing posts and articles about this interest.

2) Stay Consistent

Choose a day of the week where you will release your next post so that you will be able to let your readers know when to expect a new post. At first you will not have any readers, but if you be consistent with your posting on a regular basis your list of of readers will grow over time. You can put a sign up form on your blog or at the end of your posts, so readers can subscribe to your blog and to gather information to help you remember them. This will not only help you build a relationship with your readers, but if you decide to use your blog as a business for profit you can market to your subscribed readers. Be consistent. Do not base your success off of comments and views.
